Disney tells expansive & empowered stories.

A story Disney wanted to convey was that the LGBTQ+ community embodies a rich spectrum of identity. The community’s relationship with gender expression and sexual identity continues to evolve, making it an ongoing conversation—one that captures a beautiful array of individuals. Disney moved forward with three of my ideas below to develop in-house.

The LGBTQ+ community
embodies a spectrum of identity.

This community's relationship to gender expression and sexual identity continues to be defined and will be an ever-evolving conversation - capturing a beautiful array of individuals.

Idea 01

Disney presents:
It’s a small world, after all.

Let’s bring together LGBTQ+ers from all over the world to Disney Parks to talk about their lives and their gender identity or sexual orientation and how their country and culture have influenced their experiences.

How the idea comes to life:

Create IRL round table discussions where we feature a different group in the LGBTQ+ community each month.

How does the idea work?

We'll open Disney parks to people of this community from all over the world to celebrate - finding members of each gender identity and sexual orientation to share their stories. Each audience has different issues, insights, and perspectives. Let's bring these identities together to discuss similarities and differences in their experiences within their culture and home country.

What does this do?

Allows the individual stories to bring an international viewpoint to the more significant issue of acceptance experienced in the LGBTQ+ community. This creates insights for the audience around cultural similarities and differences experienced by each identity within the community. This idea drives empathy by sharing heartwarming stories of perseverance with fresh content throughout the year.

Disney platforms:

Mini-series on Disney+, clips on social media IG Stories/Reels, TikTok, Facebook series, etc. for one day.

Idea 02

Love isn’t one size fits all.

Love is the most powerful of human emotions and we all deserve to be loved as we are.

How the idea comes to life:

Love is expressed in many different ways. But the commonality of love is that it doesn't isolate or shouldn't isolate. It connects people. The unfair thing about being in the LGBTQ+ community is that who you love can be very isolating. This idea focuses on people who accept and love their people, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

How does the idea work?

LGBTO+ Americans are actively communal with those around them and are much more likely to consider someone family, even if unrelated (Collage Group). This content series will illustrate these very stories from the POV of community allyship - people who have a person in their life who is part of the LGBTQ+ community and how they love them for who they are. A lot of people are still afraid to come out to their parents or older generations for fear of losing their love. It is common to come out to friends first - the series will focus on a range of experiences. We'll interview and photograph our subiects with their loved ones.

Disney platforms:

Mini-series on Disney+, clips on social media IG Stories Reels, TikTok, Snapchat series, Facebook series, etc. Collaborate with the Museum of Modern Art in NYC to feature portraits of a community member with their ally with an opening and then an extended duration on display.
